Community-based mentoring
Meet with a match one-on-one in the community when it works best for you and your match. Volunteers are asked to make a one-year commitment to a child, spending a minimum of four hours a month together.
School-based mentoring
Meet a small group of students at a local school for one hour per week. Choose a time and day that fits your schedule between 3:15-5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. School-based mentors often help with math and reading, play board games and do arts and craft projects. Volunteers are asked to make a commitment to mentoring one hour/one day a week through the school year.

Application process
Submit an application to become a Mentor Squad volunteer. Our volunteers meet with their matches in the community as well as at a number of schools in Bismarck-Mandan.

- Complete an application packet.
- Email or mail the completed application to us.
- Mentor Squad runs background check on all applicants.
- Mentor Squad will contact you as soon as possible.
Responsibilities
Have dependable and consistent contact with your match.
Contact our office monthly to report match progress.
Act as a positive role model for the child.
Maintain confidentiality with regard to the child’s family situation.
Assure the child’s safety when you are together.

Characteristics
A Mentor Squad volunteer is committed to developing a healthy relationship with his or her match and follows through on commitments.

Enrich a life of a child! Mentor Squad will provide social worker support to assist you in any areas you need assistance. We have occasional group activities, access to some local events at no cost to the volunteer and a discount booklet to be used at some of the local businesses. We are a 501(c) 3 charitable organization. You will get back as much as you give in, knowing that you are making a difference in the life of a child!
